More about the provenance Nepal
Nepal is a kingdom at the Himalaya between Tibet and India with the capital of Kathmandu. Since 1961 Tibetan refugees weave their traditional rugs in Nepal. The manufactories have initially been established by Swiss development aid. The manufactories were also run by Swiss people until they managed to be independent. After corrections of design and colouring these Tibetan/Nepalese rugs became very successful and other companies from the private sector started establishing manufactories. Since then production grew immensely due to the - still lasting - high popularity of these rugs. Altogether very simplistic tasteful rugs are made in Nepal which also match the Western taste and needs perfectly.
